After starting his professional life as a Registered Nurse
and Paramedic, A/Prof Ian Jacobs completed his PhD in cardiovascular
epidemiology at the University of Western Australia.
A/Prof Ian Jacobs is Associate Professor of Clinical Epidemiology
and Prehospital Care in the Department of Emergency Medicine
at the University of Western Australia. In addition to this,
he is also Director of the Western Australian Prehospital
Care Research Unit.
A/Prof Jacobs is National and Western Australian Branch
Chairman of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and
represents the ARC on the International Liaison Committee
on Resuscitation (ILCOR).
In addition to his role as Associate editor for JEPHC,
A/Prof Jacobs also serves on the Editorial Board for the
journal Resuscitation, and is Section Editor -
Prehospital Care, for the Emergency Medicine Journal.
A/Prof Jacobs has served on numerous State and National
committees and has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers
and technical reports. He has extensive experience in the
teaching and practice of Evidence Based Medicine and is
associated with the Cochrane Collaboration.
