Craig Lambert

Craig started work as a Fire Fighter and Basic Life support Practitioner in the Fire and Ambulance service of a local authority in 1987.

In 1989 he enrolled as a full time student at the Technikon Witwatersrand for the three-year National Diploma Emergency Medical Care qualification and graduated in 1992 as an Emergency Care Advanced Life Support Practitioner. Upon graduation Craig returned to the service and worked initially as an operational paramedic but rose to the rank of station commander.

In 1995 Craig accepted an appointment at the Department of Emergency Medical Care at the (now) University of Johannesburg, as an emergency medical and technical rescue lecturer and in 2001 was appointed head of department. Craig is currently a member of the professional board for Emergency Care Practitioners at the Health Professions Council of South Africa and a member of the standard generating body for Emergency Medical Care and Rescue.

During Craig's time at the institution he has furthered his studies by completing a NHD in Fire Service Technology through the (now) Tshwane University of Technology. He has also completed a NHD in Post School Education and a BTech Degree in Emergency Medical Care. Craig is currently completing a Masters Degree in Education.

Craig lives in a small suburb 20 km from the University (which is situated in the Johannesburg City Centre). When not engaged in academic or clinical activities Craig spends time with his wife and two children, hiking and camping in the country.
